Queensbury (German pop band) x Secret Wars x Reebok

This is a weird but funny post.. Queensbury the pop band (German version of Girls Aloud), used the Secret Wars x Reebok ice cream van in their new video.

Its hard to see as the editing is so quick but Teck 1, Alfa, Jimi Crayon and Mr K all collaborated and painted the van back in July @ BBB.

Apparently this is all over German TV etc.

Quarter Final - Set 2 @ The Secret Warehouse

This was the night everyone had been waiting for....The big guns of the competition going head to head in the Q finals - Wen (defending champion) vs. Hicks!
To start the night off we had two new artists in Reeps 1 (The human beatboxer) going up against Chent who flew all the way back from Paris to compete.

It all kicked off around 10pm, giving people a couple of hours to rinse the bar dry! Vocal chords were strong and loud and the crowd seemed passionate in their opinions...

Jimi Crayon was in fine form on the mic - making his voice heard when it mattered most...

After a gruelling and intense 90 mins the first battle was up (Reeps vs. Chent) - Reeps scrapped through with both votes from the judges.

Next up was the vote for the the BIG one, Hicks had once again dazzled people with his brush skills and Wen did what he does best, master pieces!

Another tight call but "there can only be one" as Highlander would say, and that was girls favourite Mr Hicks! Congratulations to both for putting on an amazing show for all who came down.

Quarter Final - Set 1 @ The Secret Warehouse

Hosted at the Secret Warehouse, Monorex threw down another banger of a night in the dirty East end...

The new space is a perfect home for Secret Wars and it looks like this will stay the chosen venue for the rest of series 3.

Big up to all those that came along and witnessed two close showdowns - And a huge sorry for all the people that got lost and could not find the location...Please note we will be making this a lot clearer for the gig in two weeks time (Dec 13th).

MR K VS STIKA
This was the first to kick off - both went for the jugular and fought like braveheart until the very last second. Each artist had perfected their battle tactics with disses saved until the end...If you knew anything about these guys and their artwork, you would have laughed hard at some of these references painted.

RESULTS
JUDGE 1 - MR K
CROWD - STIKA
JUDGE 2 - MR K

TIZER VS DRUNK PARK
An exciting line up as both had never met before - two artists with two completely different design ideologies..Tizer is a graff legend and Drunk Park is a vector magician!

Over the 90 mins the wall evolved into a tonal war - Tizer chose to use the mini roller and Drunk Park went with the original Secret Wars marker!

RESULTS
JUDGE 1 - DRUNK PARK
CROWD - DRUNK PARK
JUDGE 2 - DRUNK PARK

Thanks to all the people that actually found the venue! And lent their vocal support...

See you at the next one - December 13th @ the same location!

Elfin vs. Tizer - The Report

A SCARY NIGHT AT SECRET WARS......

A Secret Wars Halloween special....Thanks to all those that turned up in fancy dress!

On another busy night in Juno bar, Elfin and Tizer both brought a good battle plan to the stage. With the crowd in some funny and very ghoulish outfits we were ready to kick off another classic battle in the story of Secret Wars.

Over the 90 mins the two artists seem to work at a similar pace, with both choosing to drop the main characters first and hold back the punchline till the last 5 mins.. A classic and effective plan for a Secret Wars!

In the end there had to be ONE WINNER, first up to vote was Paul from eco studios - he voted for Tizer. So 1-0 Tizer!

Next up was the crowd vote, after both sides had the chance to shout we were faced with a very rare draw on the decibel reader...? so we had to go again! After a re-shout Elfin ended up grabbing the point. So 1-1!

Then for the final deciding vote came in the form of our resident and very experienced when it comes to knowing what's best in a Secret Wars arena...

After a great speech, Session explained to the crowd his feelings and thought pattern...He then kept the crowd in suspense as he wrote on the back of the edding white board!

He flipped the board towards the crowd - and the vote went TIZER's way! 2-1 to Tizer..

Big up to both artists as they put in a great show
We also gave away some of the new Secret Wars Tee's (Foil fresh)!!! Lucky winner below....

Drunk Park vs. Jason Atomic - Report!

Last Saturday saw Drunk Park go head to head with Jason Atomic, both newbies to the Secret Wars tournament...But that lack of experience did not hinder them on the night as both artists "drew" blood at every possible attempt!

Jason planning his battle moves below

Drunk Park going BIG very quickly

After a nervous start from Drunk Park drawing the SW logo on the centre of the wall (mispelling Secret Wars), this burly guy from Tazmania gave it his all! The hype was only increased when the organisers and host (Jimi Crayon) found out his was also his birthday, hence there being 30 odd fellow Tazmanian devils in the crowd...These guys toar the roof off with their vocal support!
Jason showing people "How to mount a ladder"

None of this effected the underdog and the vastly talented Jason Atomic who brought a very refreshing style to SW..He basically kept turning to the crowd and was picking out certain people and then drew their portrait on the wall.
After a tense but fun 90 mins we had to find a winner - Judges on the night were Taka (Matsuri) & Tan (RT crew)...
Jimi and Jason (who painted his face aswell as the wall)

Reeps 1 in action and on sizzling form

VOTES:
TAKA - 1 POINT (DRUNK PARK)
CROWD - 1 POINT (DRUNK PARK) DECIBEL READING OFF 122 AGAINST JASONS 116
TAN - 1 POINT (DRUNK PARK)
Result - 3-0 Drunk Park
This did not reflect the efforts both artists put in as I feel Jason deserved a point but there was no way he would win the vocal vote with half of Tazmania in the house!

But we have a new challenger in the form of Drunk Park, this would be my suprise tip for a place in the finals...?? watch this space!

Big up to Session and Reeps for another excellent music selection!

Wen vs. Mr Penfold - Wen wins 3 - 0! - Report!

The Champ is back! ....The Champ is back!

Wen is back after his win in the very controversial but very entertaining Series 2 London Final!

With a small make over and a new pair of gloss black glasses this guy is pumped full of new battle ideas - And like any true champion decided to only try at 60% energy levels on a night full of cocks!

Wen went up against Mr Penfold who is Secret Wars fresh blood - Both artists have an amazing portfolio and a kick ass style but on the night "there can only be one" as Higlander would put it!

Wen in deep thought...

The crowds were revved up on the night - probably the busiest 1st round night yet!

Mr Penfold stating who's cock is bigger!

Mr Penfold's time machine

Wen's World!

Avue casting his vote

After a tough and very exhausting night for both artists - Wen won all 3 points, winning over both judges and the crowd....

There are two more battles left in the 1st round heats, and they only get better and better! For all that missed this one, be sure to get down for the next one on the 18th October...

SECRET WARS X SELFRIDGES X DESIGNERS BLOCK WINDOW

We were invited by our friends at Designers Block to get involve and design a Selfridges window...There were 9 other artists/collectives involved from many different artistic backgrounds involved - check here for other windows - http://www.verydesignersblock.com/?p=1342#more-1342

Jimi Crayon, Mr K and Stika created this window in one LONG night (drinking only Rockstar)....We started at 9pm and finished at 6am!

It was a roller coaster day, we got clamped at Currys in the day while buying a TV from the store...We then got pulled over by the police at 6am for driving down Oxford st illegally?? When the policeman asked me what we were upto - I stupidly said "Morning officer, we have just done a job at Selfridges". It sounded like we had just done a robbery as we were in a rented transit and i had another guy in the back! So he asked me to step out the van and answer some questions.....

Long day and long night....But we got there in the end!

The finished masterpiece

Thanks to edding UK for sponsoring and Rory and Piers for getting us involved in the first place..

Hicks vs. Conzo - Report!

Another "Battle Royale" - Probably the closest contest I have seen in a good while...Both guys came with a plan and both rocked the crowds with some super slick freestyle visuals...Conzo decided to draw more of a battle orientated piece while Hicks went for beautiful lines using only a brush all night!!

Conzo flew down from GLASGOW but was far from jet lagged - he fought to the end like any scottish braveheart would only know how..

Hicks walked into Juno suited and booted looking like Jude Law, this got all the ladies talking...oh and shouting "we love you Hicks"

After the 90 mins bell had rang there was a tough decision to make, who would go through to the Q finals?

Judge 1 - Hicks
Crowd - Hicks
Judge 2 - Hicks

Hicks surprisingly won by a clean sweep "white wash" - He stepped upto the mic to say a little thank you to Conzo but was slightly wasted and could hardly talk!

All in all this battle has set a new benchmark in quality for any Secret Wars duel...Take Note!

Next up the defending champion Wen goes head to head with newcomer Mr Penfold

Jumbo & Chent
